Gregory Lang is a California artist best known for his abstract cityscape and landscape paintings, and the originator of the painting style known as Urban Stretch. His work has been reproduced by leading publishers and distributed to over 70 countries worldwide.
A New England native, Gregory's early influences came from the region's topography and New York City. He exhibited publicly for the first time at age nine, and later studied painting and drawing at the Silvermine School of Art in Connecticut. In 1991 he moved to Berlin, where exposure to post-Wall underground art deepened his practice.
Returning to the US, Gregory worked as a fine art consultant for galleries in San Francisco and New York, and co-founded an emerging fine arts publishing company in 1996. He returned to painting in 2001 with a solo show in San Francisco's North Beach district, followed by exhibitions across both coasts. In 2020 he opened the Gregory Lang Gallery in the historic Hotel St. Helena in downtown St. Helena, at the heart of the Napa Valley.
